Dancewear Requirements Available on premises at April’s Dance Place call: (705) 735-0536
Ballet Girls: Pink or Black tank style leotard, pink or white tights, pink ballet slippers with elastic over the instep. Hair is a bun!! Exam candidates – black cotton/lycra tank style leotard or matching fellow exam candidate. Boys: Black footless tights, white short sleeve t-shirt, white ankle socks and white ballet slippers with elastic over the instep.
Tap Girls: pink, black tank style leotard, pink or white footless tights with white ankle socks, black tap shoes. N.B. bare feet are required for warm-up, creative and locomotor work. Boys: same as in ballet but tap shoes are required instead of ballet slippers. Ballroom Dress casual. Dress shoes for men with leather or neoprene sole. Ballroom dance shoes for women or a shoe with one and a half inch hell and a strap across the instep, *closed toe preferable*.
Modern, Jazz, Creative Dance 2-4 ½ yrs. Girls: pink tank style footless or stirrup unitard or pink tank leotard and footless tights, pink dance skirts optional. 5 ½ yrs+: solid colour tank style unitard (preferably black) Boys: black footless tights and white short sleeve t-shirt. Jazz oxfords optional. Bare feet for Modern & Creative Boys HIP HOP Loose track pants, white T-shirt, indoor running shoes (only) brought to class, not worn to class Jazz Exam: Black leotard, beige tights, jazz oxfords. Adults: Please use children’s dancewear is a guide. Variance from the colour choice is permissible. COMPANY: All Company members must purchase a Costume bag, plus a spare pair of each type of dance shoes kept clean and used for performances and competitions only. Each member must purchase a skin tone body suit and have clean and unmarred beige, and pink convertible tights and a black tank or camisole leotard. *Please do not wear jewelry or watches, loose t-shirts or bulky sweatshirts: These hide the body. Hair must be tied up off face and neck. Ballerinas need hair in buns.
